Pete Suerken

Senior Vice President, Centralized Purchasing and Commodity Risk Management.

Pete leads the combined areas of Centralized Purchasing and Commodity Risk Management and directs his talented team to create value for our members in many ways. Through Centralized Purchasing, Pete is responsible for over 2,000 items crossing all concepts and including vegetables, packaging, sauces, seasonings and cleaning supplies. With a toolkit of innovation and aggressive contract management, Pete has quickly developed high performing teams and is respected for the value they bring to his business partners and peers.

Spearheading Yum! Brands march to incorporate trans fat-free shortening into their foods, Pete’s commodity background has enabled his success and complements our owners. No small feat, Pete coordinates all commodity activities across all five brands, creating value for our members and developing strategies to ensure business success.

Joining UFPC in 2004, Pete initially led the newly created Commodity Risk Management Department. Shortly thereafter, Pete assumed leadership of Centralized Food and Paper Purchasing. His previous experience includes serving as Director of Feed Grain Merchandising for Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). Pete earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from The Ohio State University.
