Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op Delights Kosair Kids with “Bears on Patrol” Collection
Louisville, Ky. — Feb. 13, 2004 —
Team members of Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op®, LLC (UFPC®) are going to make a lot of kids happy by donating huggable teddy bears during their fourth annual Bears on Patrol campaign to benefit Kosair Charities.
On Friday, Feb. 13, UFPC team members and Kosair Charities representatives will celebrate the annual “bear send-off” at about 8:30 a.m. at The Olmstead, 3701 Frankfort Ave., Louisville. The event is part of UFPC's all-team meeting.
Bears on Patrol, a project of Kosair Charities, provides local police departments with teddy bears that officers carry in their cars to comfort children in traumatic situations.
Jo Barrett of Kosair Charities and representatives of the St. Matthews Police Department will share their experiences of how the teddy bears can truly comfort children caught in accidents or traumatic situations.
UFPC team members have collected 481 bears during their previous events, and their goal is to exceed last year’s total of 232 fuzzy friends.
UFPC sponsors its Bears on Patrol collection around Valentine’s Day each year. Team members who donate bears receive a Valentine’s Day card, which they can use to honor someone through their donation.
