UFPC Assumes Responsibility for A&W and Long John Silver’s
Equipment Purchasing
Louisville, Ky. — Oct. 11, 2002 —
Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op®, LLC (UFPC®) reached an agreement with Yum! Brands, Inc. to assume responsibility for the equipment division of Yorkshire Global Restaurants (YGR). Yum! Brands acquired Yorkshire Global Restaurants in May 2002.
UFPC, as the only authorized purchasing organization for Yum! Brands company- and franchisee-owned stores, previously assumed the responsibilities for food, packaging and equipment procurement for the YGR brands, A&W All-American Food Restaurants and Long John Silver’s.
“The Allen & Wright Equipment division of YGR will be combined with UFPC’s existing equipment distribution business. This assimilation of business positions allows us to better support the co-branding efforts of Yum! Brands while providing more competitive and complete service to the existing A&W and Long John Silver’s restaurants,” said UFPC President and Chief Executive Officer Daniel E. Woodside.
The food, packaging and sourcing functions will remain in Lexington, Ky., and be managed by Vice President and General Manager Rick Jenkins. The Equipment Sales Group is managed by Vice President Dale Holden and Director Ellen Goulart.
UFPC is a purchasing cooperative, which acts as a supply chain manager for corporate- and franchisee-owned A&W All-American Food Restaurants, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell restaurants in the United States. UFPC is headquartered in Louisville, Ky.
